Technical school "Ivan Sarić”

At the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, Subotica was considered an industrial center, one of the largest in the Kingdom of Serbs, Croatians and Slovenians. Already in the middle of the 19th century, there is the need for by educating craftsmen and industrial workers in the mechanical and electrical professions. Those schools have transformed, divided and merged over time as economic development demanded.
The first Technical School in Subotica was founded on November 4, 1945. She educated personnel in the construction, mechanical and electrical engineering professions. Further development industry required more educated staff which led to the division of this school at several specialized schools, so our school was established by the Decision of the People's Board of the Municipality of Subotica on September 28. 1961, as a Mechanical and Electrical Engineer school center which includes: Mechanical and Electrical Engineering School, School for highly qualified workers with departments of metal and electrical engineering.In addition to the personnel of the mechanical and electrical engineering profession, who have been since the very beginning, since 1975. the school also educates traffic professionals - road traffic. In 1978, it was integrated with the Railway Industry school (ŽIŠ) and since then the school has been educating the staff of the traffic profession - railway. The school then changed its name to the Center for the Education of Professional Workers in the Metal, Electrical and Traffic Professions. From 1999 to 2010, the school was called Technical school, and from 01.09.2010. The school has a new name: Technical school "Ivan Sarić".
The educational work of the school takes place in two school buildings. The school has a building at Trg Lazara Nešića no.9, where it is performed theoretical classes and laboratory exercises. Classes take place in two shifts. Total the area of the closed space is 6,073 m2 and has the following structure: 16 cabinets, 37 general purpose classrooms, 4 multimedia classrooms, 2 meeting rooms, gym. 
The second building is located at Matija Gupca street no.8-10 and Harambašićeva street no.5 wehere we have practical classes, in two shifts. The total indoor area is 2,271 m2, and contains: 1 classroom, 7 cabinets, 8 workshops for practical classes.
