European Pillar of Social Rights - Open consultation

The European Commission has recently presented a Communication on the European Pillar of Social Rights "A Strong Social Europe for Just Transitions" setting out additional EU level initiatives, paving the way for an Action Plan, and launching a consultation with all EU countries, regions and social partners on how to ensure progress at EU, national, regional and local level. The Commission invites all partners to present their views until 30 November 2020

Since 2017, the European Commission has taken concrete initiatives to ensure the Pillar’s 20 rights and principles are put into practice to support fair and well-functioning labour markets.  The recent Communication sets out an ambitious social policy to meet the challenges and opportunities Europe is facing on the issues of climate action, digitalisation and demographic change.

The priority given to human capital development by the European Union is reflected in The European Pillar of Social Rights, which aims to bring fairness to every citizen's daily life upholding the EU’s commitment that people are at the centre, and that no one is left behind.

The ETF’s work is devised and delivered in the context of the EU’s policies, including the European Pillar of Social Rights, and the EU's external relations priorities in support of the United Nation’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, in particular, quality education and decent work and economic growth.
