EU-UKRAINE

We are with Ukraine

“They belong to us, they are one of us and we want them in”. These were the words of European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen in her statement of 27 February 2022 on Ukraine to Euronews.

The ETF has been working with Ukraine for many years as one of its priority countries. We have been supporting our Ukrainian partners in reforming their education and training system, focusing on topics such as qualifications, the future of skills in key economic sectors, and governance arrangements to modernise the system and bring it closer to the EU. We have invested in teacher training, career guidance, vocational excellence as well as green, digital and entrepreneurial key competences. We have supported the modernisation of labour market information systems through the make-it-match network and big data analysis of the labour market.

Together with the EU and its Member States, we express our full solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people and condemn in the strongest possible terms Russia's unprovoked and unjustified military aggression, which grossly violates international law and the UN Charter, and undermines international security and stability.

We are continuing our work where circumstances allow, in close cooperation with our partners. In the future, we will step up our cooperation with our Ukrainian counterparts in close cooperation with the European Union. We will do everything possible to further support Ukraine in its efforts as regards education and training and labour market expertise.
