
Peer learning visit to the Netherlands for the Renewable Energy (RE) future Sector skills project
The objective of the peer learning visit is to expose the members of the newly established Sector Skills Council (SSC) for the Renewable Energy in Egypt to relevant skills dialogue practices in the renewable energy sector and provide opportunities for peer learning and networking. This joint visit will allow to enhance common insights in the principles for effective implementation and continuous development of the SSC.
NB. The visit specifically contributes to the following objectives described in the Capacity Building programme:
- Provide inspirational insights into national and international practices, enhancing understanding of the principles and conditions for effective implementation and continuous development of the SSC;
- Strengthen technical, methodological and more generic social dialogue capacities at individual and organisational level addressing among others, collection, analysis and elaboration of labour market and skills intelligence, development and updating of sectoral labour market and skills reports, design and review of occupational standards;
- Discuss and prioritise key functions and activities for the SSC.
This visit will further enhance understanding of:
- The mandate and scope of SSCs within a certain national socio-economic context
- How SSCs and their scope, mandate, composition and role evolve over time
- Identifying and describing labour market trends and skills needs for the Renewable Energy sector
- Creation of ownership among employers and the benefits they experience in the social dialogue
- The translation of labour market and skills trends into occupational standards and how these contribute to the maintenance of the qualification system (a special training session will be dedicated to this subject during the visit)
