European Education Area Strategic Framework Working Group on VET and the Green Transition – Peer Learning Activity
The transition to an environmentally sustainable, circular, and climate-neutral economy has significant social, economic, and employment impacts. Ensuring that all citizens acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes is vital for a socially just transformation of the EU. Vocational education and training (VET) is crucial for helping young people and adults develop the skills needed to thrive. The European Education Area Working Group on VET and the Green Transition facilitates technical exchanges and supports countries in implementing the Council Recommendation on VET and the Osnabrück Declaration.
The working group has previously organised various PLA in EU member states showcasing regional best practises in integrating sustainability into VET programmes. This edition will be a little different as it will showcase the international dimension of VET particularly on advancing green VET innovation across and beyond Europe.
It will include sessions on how ETF promotes inter-country exchanges for the benefit of country’s green industrial policies in and out of the EEA, followed by a presentation by ICT-ILO on how they approach green VET internationally. It will also be an opportunity to visit the Torino Environment Park, an illustrative example of innovative approaches to skilling for green technology deployment, namely when the private sector takes the lead.
These topics are vital to the integration of sustainable practices in education and industry as countries may be at different levels of VET development but the goals are the same for all economies, and collaboration accelerates progress.
