Comparing the EQF with other national and regional qualifications frameworks will facilitate the mutual understanding of qualifications between other national and regional qualifications frameworks and the EQF. A better understanding of qualifications will make their use and recognition easier. The EQF Recommendation of 2017 asked the European Commission and the Member States to explore procedures and criteria to enable the comparison of national and regional qualifications frameworks beyond the EU with the EQF and makes a link to international agreements concluded between the EU and third countries and other regional economic communities.
