About

In 2016, Torino was the first Italian city to be nominated UNESCO Learning City.

In 2025 the City organised a participatory process involving stakeholders of the learning ecosystem to define the priorities that may consolidate the mission of Torino as a Learning City.

One of the most prominent priority that merged in 2025 was the need to have coordination among many different actions through an inclusive governance mechanism.

A new step towards establishing such a framework will take place on the 24th of November at the OGR in Torino. The workshop is organised by the City of Torino in collaboration with the European Training Foundation (ETF), the ILO International Training Centre (ITCILO) and Links Foundation. The aim of the event is to work with key local stakeholders to draw up an Action Plan that the city of Torino will adopt in its capacity of UNESCO Learning City.

The Torino Lifelong Learning City workshop will be another important opportunity for collective discussion and co-creation. The focus will be on shared governance of skills, monitoring and evaluation, communication and advocacy, education to sustainability and ethical AI, as crucial enabling conditions for a lifelong learning ecosystem.

The ETF is delighted to host the workshop ‘Turin Lifelong Learning City: Drafting Together the Action Plan’ as part of the Torino Global Skills Summit.

The working language will be Italian.
