Vocational learning at a distance: supporting teachers under lock down

ETF webinar, 26 May from 10.30 to 12.00 (CET)

The ETF is hosting a webinar on "Vocational Learning at a Distance: Supporting Vocational Teachers under the Lock Downon Tuesday 26 May from 10.30 to 12.00 (CET) to explore the issues which have emerged during the pandemic and reinforce cooperation amongst vocational teaching professionals and stakeholders within ETF partner countries, European member states, and beyond.

Mapping of the response to the COVID-19 impact and coping mechanisms in ETF partner countries revealed that those countries with prior initiatives supporting teachers to use and exploit digital methods in their work enabled the sudden shift towards distance learning brought by the pandemic. Teachers in vocational education and training, however, face particular challenges in adapting core components of the curricula to learning at distance, although good examples do exist from which others can learn.

Teachers and trainers are at the forefront in ensuring students are equipped with the skills they need for the future. In recent years, the ETF has supported teachers’ uptake of digital tools, participation to online professional networks and liaison with industry for sharing good practice, materials and experience through targeted projects and country activities. The webinar is part of the  “Support and Training for Teachers & Trainers” , an ETF COVID-19 response initiative to support education through the crisis.
