About

On 23 November the ETF will host 16 university teams as finalists of the 7th edition of the UNIMED “Start Cup Competition – Entrepreneurship in the Mediterranean”, a contest of entrepreneurial ideas developed by university students enrolled in one of the universities around the Mediterranean basin.

The initiative was launched in 2018 in the framework of the ERASMUS+ Capacity Building project RESUME and is part of a series of initiatives organised by the UNIMED SubNetwork on Employability, whose objective is to promote cooperation between members on the theme of entrepreneurship and employability and to strengthen economic and social cohesion by promoting, on the one hand, cross-border, transnational and interregional cooperation, and on the other hand, sustainable local development.

The Start Cup Competition is jointly organised by UNIMED and the Lebanese University, coordinator of the UNIMED SubNetwork on Employability, with the collaboration of the European Training Foundation (ETF), the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie – Moyen-Orient and the CIHEAM- Bari, the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies.

Hosted by the ETF in the framework of the Torino Global Skills Summit, this edition will gather students from Algeria, Libya, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Portugal, Tunisia, Türkiye and Yemen, who reached the final stage of the competition. They will pitch their ideas in front of an international jury composed of ETF, ITCILO and a local private company; the winners will be awarded during the Torino Skills Summit.
