Application process

Application, and formal requirments

Your application must include, preferably in English:

  • Cover letter: preferably one page maximum, saved as “Surname Name CL”
  • Curriculum vitae: preferably in Europass format, saved as “Surname Name CV”

Only applications that are complete, submitted online through the ETF website, and within the deadline will be considered.

Selection process

ETF’s recruitment process follows four clear phases. Each step is time-bound and designed to ensure fairness and transparency.

Phase 1 – Eligibility screening
Within one week of the application deadline. The selection team will assess applications against eligibility criteria. Applications meeting all criteria move to the next phase.

Phase 2 – Shortlisting for interview and written tests
Within 4 weeks of the application deadline. The board assess applications based on selection criteria outlined in the vacancy notice. Shortlisted candidates are invited to interviews and written tests. Only shortlisted candidates are contacted.

Phase 3 – Interviews and written tests
Within 6–7 weeks of the application deadline,  the board assesses candidates against selection criteria through interviews and written tests. 

Outcome: Within 8–9 weeks, the board proposes the most suitable candidate(s) to the ETF Director.

Phase 4 – Director’s decision
Within 9–10 weeks of the application deadline. The ETF Director reviews the board’s proposal and makes the final decision. The Director may choose to meet candidates or delegate this task to another staff member.
