FACTSHEET - International financial institutions meet in Turin to discuss competitiveness and skills

The event 

Turin will host the second stage of the European dialogue on skills and competitiveness: 
“Empowering Competitiveness: Investing in Skills Ecosystems and Strategic Partnerships for Prosperity.” Representatives from European institutions and leading international financial institutions will exchange views on how to make skills a driver of inclusive and sustainable growth. The event is organised by the European Training Foundation (ETF) – the European Union agency based in Villa Gualino, Turin, Italy. 

Context 

The Turin meeting follows the momentum created by the European Year of Skills (2024) and builds on the recommendations of the Draghi Report, which stresses the need to build resilient and inclusive skills ecosystems. 

The discussions will help shape Europe’s priorities on lifelong learning, social inclusion, and sustainable competitiveness. 

Agenda 

  • Opening session with representatives of local authorities and European institutions. 
  • Contributions from major international financial institutions, including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the European Investment Bank (EIB). 
  • Official launch of the Gender and Social Inclusion Facility – a joint ETF–EIB initiative promoting equity and inclusion through investment in skills.

The European Training Foundation (ETF) 

Based in Turin since 1994, the European Training Foundation (ETF) is the European Union agency supporting reforms in education, training, and employment systems in the EU’s neighbouring countries.
