Career guidance

Career guidance refers to the services and activities that assist people to make meaningful education, training and career choices. Helping people identify and acquire the skills, competences and attitudes connects their success to employers’ needs and broader social and economic policy goals. Guidance and counselling takes place in many settings: schools, colleges, universities, workplaces and training institutions, public and private employment service providers.

Widening access to career guidance, with an emphasis on career management skills and work experience, and using innovative resource-efficient approaches, improves the transition to work and lifelong learning. The ETF works with its partner countries to further develop career guidance policies, services, courses and self-assessment tools.
