Skills for a digital future

The ETF supports the design and implementation of digital skills and learning strategies to modernise vocational education and training systems in our partner countries.

Digital skills and learning are cross-cutting economic and social policy issues. Digital skills are necessary for economic competitiveness of enterprises and economies and the employability of workforces. A lack of digital skills and learning opportunities create a digital divide exacerbating social exclusion as seen with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ETF’s policy advice is informed primarily by the European Skills Agenda (including the Green Deal, the European Pillar on Social Rights, the Pact for Skills (forming alliance with the private sector and other stakeholders), and the Vocational Education and Training Recommendation (digital skills development for teachers, trainers and managers); the Digital Education Action Plan within the European Education Area, Digital Competence Framework for Citizens, and Digital Competence Framework for Educators; and the EU Industrial Strategy.
