From Morocco to Malaysia. From Croatia to Canada. On 29-30 January, over 150 education specialists and policymakers from 58 countries across the world will gather at the European Parliament in Brussels to discuss the external dimension of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).
This first ever global conference on compatibility of qualifications will explore the potential of the EQF to connect with the international community outside the EU and similar developments elsewhere in the world.
The conference is organised by the European Training Foundation (ETF) in cooperation with the Chair of the European Parliament’s Employment and Social Affairs Committee, Mr Jan Andersson, the Czech Presidency, the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission and Cedefop.
“The EQF is already inspiring reforms in countries around the EU. This is no accident, but part of a studied decision to share what is becoming a very useful tool,” says Ján Figel’, EU Commissioner for Education, Training, Culture and Youth.
Ján Figel’ will attend the opening session together with the Minister for Education, Youth and Sports from the Czech Presidency, Ondřej Liška, and the Chair of the European Parliament’s Employment and Social Affairs Committee, Jan Andersson.
“We have experienced an enormous international interest for the EQF conference and we hope that the global focus on qualification systems can make it easier for people to move between different systems and countries and have their skills recognised,” Dr Muriel Dunbar, ETF Director says.
