Commissioner Vassiliou praises ETF contribution to EU strategy
Year/Date: 25/10/2010
Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, praised the ‘high quality contribution’, which the ETF brings to the work of the EU. Ms Vassiliou came to Turin to participate in an international education conference organised by the ETF on 25 and 26 October.
‘The ETF is a centre of expertise, recognised within the EU and outside’, said Commissioner Vassiliou. ‘Thanks to this expertise, the ETF makes an invaluable contribution to the EU2020 strategy and ensures that questions of education and training receive proper attention in the strategy.’
Commissioner Vassiliou thanked ETF staff for their ‘excellent work’ and said that the European Commission appreciates the work of the ETF. She underlined the importance of close cooperation between the centre in Brussels and the ETF in Turin.
‘In a globalised world, the EU is not alone, so cooperating closely with neighbours, helping them develop closer links with the EU is a win-win situation,’ said Commissioner Vassiliou, commenting on the role of the ETF in the partner countries.
