Italy at 150: ETF sends compliments

Italy reunified 150 years ago, when the first Italian Parliament proclaimed Victor Emmanuel II King of Italy. Turin was the country’s first capital. As the country and the city celebrate, the ETF, which has enjoyed the hospitality of Italy and Turin since 1994, congratulates its hosts on the occasion of Italian reunification.

In a letter to the President of Italy, Giorgio Napolitano, ETF Director Madlen Serban writes: ‘we recognize and pay tribute to the spirit and accomplishments of your country and its achievements around the world’.

Ms Serban underlined Italy’s vital contribution to building Europe without borders. Italy was one of six initial members of the European Communities since the signing of the Treaty of Rome in 1957.

‘The ETF is proud of the strong ties and friendship with Italy and being located in Turin provides us with an excellent base for working on the mandate of the European Union to support human capital development and reform of vocational education and training in countries neighbouring the EU,’ writes Ms Serban.
